Ginger Tea Lemonade
A couple years ago I attended a ladies night pot luck and one of the women brought this amazing drink! I am not an iced tea lover, but this was pretty awesome, even I liked it! As summer approaches, I’m very thankful she shared the recipe with me. And wouldn’t you know; it’s one of Giada’s!
The real bonus here is the ginger. Did you know that ginger has many healing properties? For centuries it has been used to aid in digestion, relieve upset stomachs, lower LDL cholesterol, alleviate high blood pressure and treat nausea for morning sickness and for chemo patients. Tasty and healthy. You couldn’t ask for much more than that in one glass!
GINGER TEA LEMONADE
2 cups water
3 English Breakfast tea bags
1 1/3 cups Ginger Simple Syrup, recipe follows
2/3 cup fresh lemon juice, about 3 lemons
1 cup sparking water or club soda, chilled
2 cups ice
Lemon slices for garnish, optional
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Remove the pan from the heat and add the tea bags. Stir and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard. Add the Ginger Simple Syrup, lemon juice, and sparkling water.
Put the ice in a large pitcher. Pour the lemonade mixture over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and serve.
