Chart House Mud Pie
This week I will be going to my favorite Chart House for a celebration of birthdays with my friend Cindy Tortomasi. We’ve been friends since we were 3 1/2 years old and still celebrating our birthdays together after all these years! I won’t say how many, but suffice it to say there are 2 digits involved. :o)
The Chart House wins hands-down when it comes to mud pie and since I will soon be sinking my teeth into one, thought I’d share the recipe so you can do the same in your own home.
CHART HOUSE MUD PIE
½ package Nabisco Chocolate Wafers
½ cube butter, melted
1 gallon coffee ice cream, softened
1 ½ c. your favorite fudge sauce, refrigerated but soft enough to spread
Sweetened whipped cream
Crush the wafers, add the butter and mix well. Press the crumb mixture into a 9-inch pie tin and cover with soft coffee ice cream, filling the tin. Put the pie into the freezer until the ice cream is firm. Top with cold fudge sauce. Place it back into the freezer and freeze approximately 10 hours before serving.
To serve: slice the frozen pie into 8 portions and serve on a chilled dessert plate with a chilled fork. Top with whipped cream and slivered almonds.
Cook’s Note: It helps to place fudge sauce in freezer for a time, to make spreading easier.
